“Stranger Things” Season 5 has already pushed the franchise into record-breaking territory — even before the new episodes arrive.
As viewers either revisit the sci-fi hit or dive into it for the first time ahead of the final season’s Nov. 26 premiere, all four earlier seasons have climbed back into Netflix’s Global Top 10. This marks the first time in Netflix history that a single series has had four seasons charting simultaneously.
From Nov. 17–23, Season 1 ranked as the No. 3 most-watched English-language TV series, earning 4.1 million views. Meanwhile, Season 4 placed fifth with 3.3 million views. Seasons 2 and 3 followed closely at No. 7 and No. 9, respectively, though both matched “Gabby’s Dollhouse” (No. 8) at approximately 3.1 million views.
Given the show’s massive cultural footprint and the long wait since the previous installment, Season 5 is widely expected to break additional records when it joins the Top 10 next week. Season 4, which premiered in 2022, still stands as Netflix’s third-most-popular English-language series ever, drawing 140.7 million views within its first 91 days. Season 3, released in 2019, held the No. 10 spot on that list until “Wednesday” Season 2 surpassed it earlier this year. (The series originally debuted in 2016, followed by Season 2 in 2017.)
In another first for Netflix, Season 5 will also have a theatrical component. After the release of Part 1 on Nov. 16 and Part 2 on Christmas Day, the show’s grand finale will premiere in theaters and on streaming simultaneously on New Year’s Eve — marking the first time a Netflix original series has aimed for box-office profit.
During the week of Nov. 17–23, the only titles ahead of “Stranger Things” Season 1 were “The Beast in Me,” which topped the chart with 14.1 million views in its second week, and “Absentia” Season 1, which recently moved from Prime Video to Netflix and took second place with 8.2 million views. “Absentia” Season 2 landed at No. 4 with 4 million views, while Season 3 rounded out the list at No. 10 with 2.3 million views.
Also notable for that week, the film “Champagne Problems” premiered as the No. 1 overall title with 20.5 million views.
