Standing alongside her brother Finneas, she thanked her fellow nominees: “Thank you so much. I can’t believe this. Everyone else in this category is so amazing. Eilish continued, expressing both hope and frustration: “It’s just really hard to know what to say or do right now. In her acceptance speech for the award, Eilish reflected on the environmental justice movement and the challenging political climate. “It’s very strange to be celebrated for working toward environmental justice when it feels less achievable than ever,” she said. “We’re seeing our neighbors being kidnapped, peaceful protesters being assaulted and murdered, and our civil rights being stripped away. Resources for climate change are being cut, and food and healthcare are becoming privileges for the wealthy instead of basic human rights.”
