Prime Video confirmed a major twist for its upcoming Spider-Man Noir series: Nic Cage will play Spider-Man—but not as Peter Parker.
The streamer released a new poster today, revealing that Spider-Noir will premiere in 2026 in both full color and black-and-white, as earlier rumors suggested. The teaser showed the door to the hero’s private investigator office, identifying him not as Peter Parker but as B. Reilly—Ben Reilly.
In both the 2009 comic series and Cage’s animated appearance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Spider-Man of Earth-90214 was Peter Benjamin Parker. The new show borrows elements from those versions but makes a sharp break by giving this Noir Spider-Man a different identity. And the name “Ben Reilly” carries decades of weight.
Ben Reilly remains one of the most controversial figures in Spider-Man comics. He led the infamous Clone Saga, where he and Peter were manipulated into doubting which of them was the real Spider-Man. Ben appeared to die at the storyline’s end—though, as with many comic characters, he returned repeatedly to revisit his long history of cloning trauma and rivalry with Peter.
The choice of name might simply be a playful nod to longtime Spider-Man fans. It could also mean something deeper. “Ben Reilly” might be a cover identity Peter uses while working as a private investigator. Or the series could set up a mystery that eventually brings in Nic Cage as both Ben Reilly and Peter Parker—giving viewers a full Cage-versus-Cage showdown.
We’ll know more next year when Spider-Man Noir swings onto Prime Video in 2026.
