The conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo marks a major turning point for the franchise, officially bringing an end to the era created by mangaka Gege Akutami.

Despite debuting less than a year ago, the highly anticipated sequel series is already approaching its final chapters. Chapter 23, released recently, concluded the story’s central battle and set the stage for an emotional and brutal finale within the world of jujutsu.

A Short-Lived Sequel With Global Impact

Following the end of the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga in September 2024, Akutami surprised fans by returning in September 2025 with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Set 68 years after the events of the Culling Game, the sequel is illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki and focuses on the descendants and students of Satoru Gojo, along with the next generation of sorcerers.

From its launch, Modulo was planned as a limited series lasting approximately six months. With Chapter 23 bringing the main conflict to a close, the manga is now expected to conclude at Chapter 25, with its final release scheduled for March 2026.

The Final Battle and Maru’s Fateful Choice

The climactic confrontation between Yuka Okkotsu and Dabura Kabura came to an abrupt end due to Maru’s intervention. Prior to this, Yuka’s situation was dire. Regardless of whether Dabura or Mahoraga emerged victorious, her survival was nearly impossible.

Even if she had lived through the battle, a terminal illness would have soon claimed her life. To prevent this outcome, Maru forcibly summoned Dabura to the “Path of Souls,” disrupting the purification ritual Yuka had initiated.

As a result, Dabura returned alone to Simuria, ensuring Yuka’s safety. He accepted the decision willingly, having finally freed his sister from the curse of Deskunte Chietan.

Following the battle, Maru used Mahito’s power not only to save Yuka but also to heal Cross and Tsurugi. He then chose to shoulder the responsibility of eliminating cursed spirits and kalyan—entities bound by similar spiritual origins. Though burdened by guilt, Maru no longer carries this responsibility alone, supported by his family and allies.

Yuji Itadori’s Role and an Unanswered Question

Chapter 23 also delivered a poignant farewell between Maru and Yuji Itadori. Even after 68 years, Yuji continues to act as a guide, teaching Maru the true cost of erasing cursed energy from humanity.

While Maru’s ritual may eliminate existing cursed spirits, Yuji emphasizes that new curses will inevitably be born from human emotion. Together, they succeeded in ending a violent cycle, sparing countless innocents from suffering.

However, one critical mystery remains unresolved: the fate of Megumi Fushiguro. This lingering question is expected to be addressed in the final two chapters and has become the focal point of fan speculation.

Release Schedule and Final Chapters

An official release date for the final chapter has yet to be announced. However, both remaining chapters will feature special color pages as a tribute to readers.

  • Volume 1: Released January 5, 2026
  • Volume 2: Scheduled for release on March 4, 2026

Currently, physical volumes are available only in Japan. International readers can access the latest chapters through the official Manga Plus platform while awaiting licensed translations.
